America's Most Wanted episode...

I just thought I'd write a quick post in response to the America's Most Wanted episode this past Saturday (March 17) that featured Jason & Lindsay's story.

For the most part, the segment of the episode that featured their story was accurate, except for one very important aspect! There was a re-enactment clip used that was horribly inaccurate and really seemed to do more damage than good. AMW probably used it for effect, but it completely contradicted the truth of this case and that is horrifying! The clip showed two people making out under a blanket, suggesting they were "fooling around," and then they showed the girl (supposedly portraying Lindsay) sitting up and screaming as she was shot in the head. Then they cut to real footage of Lindsay's dad talking about how devoted they were to each other and Christ and how purely they lived their lives... and so the previous re-enactment clip just seemed to completely ruin the credibility of the story! I even received an e-mail this weekend from someone who saw that and wondered why the contradiction was there. So I'm writing this in order to make sure people know the TRUTH.

First of all, you can read it in previous posts and right here... Jason and Lindsay were the REAL DEAL. They were as their parents said on TV... truly devoted to each other and to Christ and they respected God's laws with utmost fervor! They did not sleep together under one blanket or in one sleeping bag as the re-enactment clip portrayed. Instead, they slept in individual sleeping bags under the stars because they loved the outdoors! They spent that last evening watching the sunset, reading their Bibles and writing in journals about how awesome God is... for His beautiful Creation and for the gift of having each other as a soon-to-be spouse. Their evening was not filled with lustful passion... it was filled with praise and thanksgiving to God and then they simply went to sleep. Then, sometime during the night, they were shot (each once in the head) as they slept. There isn't any evidence that I have ever heard of that suggests that either of them woke up and screamed. They were shot as they slept. Whoever was the second one to be shot probably didn't have enough time to process what was happening before they died too. And with the roar of the ocean so close to them... they may not have even heard the shot... we'll never know for sure. I hate to even think about that.

The autopsy results showed that Lindsay was still pure... she had not slept with anyone yet... she and Jason were waiting for marriage as their faith required and they respected. It was also a relief that she had not been raped by whomever killed them... but it is yet another baffling piece of evidence that points to no clear motive. This is such a bizarre case because there are so many unanswered questions... but you can be absolutely sure of a few things! Jason and Lindsay LOVED Jesus and lived for Him! They spent their lives serving others and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. They lived differently than anyone else I've ever known! They had very few material possessions... their lives were only about their family, friends, serving Christ, working with youth ministry and pursuing outdoor adventure! And I will always remember them as role models when I am looking for examples of people who lived selflessly for others and for Christ. They are heroes in my eyes and I will never forget them.
